About me

I am an advocate of the High Court of Kenya close to a decade years post admission experience. I currently serves as the Programme Lead for the Sexual Health and Reproductive Education (SHARE), Women in Political Participation (WPP) and ECHIDNA Giving Programmes at the Forum for African Women Educationalist-Regional Secretariat (FAWE-RS). I am also the focal point person for Early Childhood Education (ECE) at the organization.

In 2019, I was selected as one of five Leadership & Advocacy for Women in Africa (LAWA) fellows. i attended Georgetown University Law Centre and graduated with a Master’s in International Legal Studies and a certificate in International Human Rights. Beverly graduated with an LL.B. from Moi University in 2013.

At FAWE, I lead the implementation of the SHARE, WPP and ECHIDNA programmes in various countries across Africa to ensure gender equality through social change activities and advocacy at national, regional and global levels.

I have expertise in preventing gender-based violence and  among the young leaders in the conversation surrounding domestic and intimate partner violence. Further, I have experience in program implementation in different areas of women’s human rights law including SGBV, land rights, sexual and reproductive health rights and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms

I hold a special passion for increasing access to reproductive health and rights especially for adolescent girls. To contribute towards the much needed change, I co-founded a community based organization, Thamini Binti which means cherish your daughter to support young girls’ menstrual health and hygiene needs

As a scholar, I have carried out extensive research in different areas such as land rights and maternal health, as well as the rehabilitation system for minors in Kenya. My paper “Women and Land: A Conflict of Culture and Law” was selected for presentation at the World Bank Conference in Washington, D.C. in March 2019.For my LAWA thesis, I carried out extensive research on surrogacy in Kenya and made recommendations to develop a framework to regulate the practice, with a focus on protecting vulnerable surrogates. I continue to write on different SRHR issues in a bid to create awareness and trigger policy change.

I am looking to pursue my PhD in Policy Advocacy in Adolescent Reproductive Justice. I am endlessly curious, and therefore remains open to exploring a variety of ways to improve the lives of women and girls.

committed to making the lives of women and children better.

About Thamini Binti Foundation

Thamini Binti Foundation is a community-based organization whose mission is “To help vulnerable girls to meet their menstrual health and hygiene needs”. This is based on the premise that when a girl’s menstrual hygiene needs are not met, then she is susceptible to reproductive health challenges including teenage pregnancies, unsafe abortion and in some circumstances death. Experiencing the menstrual health challenges also makes it impossible for a girl to navigate her life normally, she is likely to miss out on school which may affect her academic outcomes and resultantly affect her ability to compete in the job market leaving her revolving in the cycle of poverty
